Bertolt Brecht was born on the 10th of February, 1898, in Augsburg, which was a part of the German empire. His occupations included theatrical directing, play-writing, and writing poetry. Brecht's father worked for a paper mill, and his mother was relatively religious. He grew up in a middle class household. When Brecht turned 16, World War I began. His father advised him to enroll for an additional medical course, which he did, at Munich University. Brecht also studied theatre/drama.
